Forty Years and Beyond
For 40 years, Yellow Emperor has been a business focused on the quality of materials, the process, and the finished product. We believe that quality can be felt and that a quality experience with a contract manufacturer is key to a brand’s success.
In 1981, Yellow Emperor was founded on the principals and philosophy found in The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Cannon, or Huangdi Neijing. The line of products under the Yellow Emperor brand included single herb extracts, Herbal Drops, and other herbal products including sprays and pastes. These were sometimes private labeled for other brands as well.
When the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act pass in 1994, Yellow Emperor began to focus more on private labeling and contract manufacturing for other brands, seeing opportunity in focusing on quality ingredients, production, and finished products rather than marketing and sales. In the past 10 years, Yellow Emperor has obtained third-party certifications that confirm the quality practices that have been followed for decades.
Yellow Emperor still manufactures for the same international and national brands that it started with in the late 80s and early 90s and now has brought in many more to the Yellow Emperor family within the last decade. Yellow Emperor looks forward to making more great products for outstanding brands that take pride in quality products.

Yellow Emperor founded in Massachusetts as a manufacturer of its own brand of products.Andrew Levine joins the Yellow Emperor Team in Product Development.Andrew Levine joins the Yellow Emperor Team in Product Development.Andrew Levine purchases Yellow Emperor. Yellow Emperor begins to focus more on contract product development and manufacturing of herbal extracts.Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act passes. The legislation defined and regulates dietary supplements under the FDAs 21 CFR Part 111 – Current Good Manufacturing Practices for Dietary Supplements.Yellow Emperor discontinues its own line of liquid extracts, herbal drops, and more.Andrew Levine and Joe Stipek meet through mutual friends. Since Joe has experience in acquisition and sales of companies, Andrew asks Joe to help him get Yellow Emperor ready for his retirement.Joe falls in love with Yellow Emperor and the natural products industry. Then, decides to buy Yellow Emperor from Andrew seeing great potential in the company.Yellow Emperor becomes a Certified Organic Processor with Oregon Tilth.Yellow Emperor is one of the first businesses to participate in the City of Eugene’s Love Food not Waste program, a composting program.Yellow Emperor becomes a 3rd party certified GMP facility through the Natural Products Association’s program.Yellow Emperor becomes a Certified Green Partner.Yellow Emperor becomes GMP certified through UL, which took over the NPA GMP certification process.Yellow Emperor becomes a benefit corporation certified by Benefit Corporations for Good.Yellow Emperor rolls out a Cardboard Reuse program.Yellow Emperor becomes a National Animal Supplement Council Preferred Supplier.Yellow Emperor registers with the Oregon Hemp Plan, becomes a member of the National Hemp Association, and starts working with CBDs.
