FAQ Series: Liquid Contract Packaging 201

Is Yellow Emperor GMP certified?

Yes! We are a certified GMP manufacturer of liquid dietary supplements and nutraceuticals. We are also an FDA Food registered business and Certified Organic Processor. You can read more of our humble brag on our Quality Certifications page.

What are your minimum order quantities?

Our minimums vary on a number of contributing factors. These include the following:

  • Minimum order quantities of ingredients required or specialized packaging
  • Size of the bottle
  • Number of SKUs that we will be manufacturing for a client
  • Split filling or labeling

Generally, for most liquid dietary supplement or nutraceutical, is between 2,000-3,000 units.

What are your lead times?

Our lead times vary based on the process used for production and lead times of the vendors. Our lead times for an herbal tincture will be different than a liquid vitamin because their manufacturing process is different. Because we are “made to order” business, when we receive a PO from a business, it starts the chain of purchasing and production scheduling. Generally, first runs of a product are about 15 weeks and after that our lead times are generally around 12 weeks, depending on production process. These lead times include shipping delays that our industry has experienced throughout the pandemic and now war in Europe.

What is the R&D process?

A typical R&D process with Yellow Emperor goes something like this:

  1. A company reaches out to us and we discuss how our businesses can work together on getting their liquid product to market.
  2. Then, we exchange a non-disclosure agreement and receive the formula for their herbal tincture, liquid vitamin, personal care product, or nutraceutical.
  3. Our New Product Development team generates quotes based on the formula and sends them onto the potential new client.
  4. After the quotes are approved, we are ready to receive a PO and move into R&D production.
  5. Once R&D samples are provided and approved by the client, we then move into full production of the PO already submitted.

The timeline for this process depends greatly on the customer therefore it varies greatly. We have worked with some customers where it takes less than a month and for others it has taken over a year.
