Yellow Emperor at Cascade Raptor Center

It has been almost three years since our last volunteering event with Friends of Trees Eugene in 2019. So many of us have waited a long time to do some community volunteering. We asked our teammates what folks would like to do most and many of us wanted something outdoors that lasted a couple of hours.

We had an awesome second debut at Cascade Raptor Center where the Yellow Emperor team (and loved ones) cleared out invasive species like Himalaya blackberries. We were asked to keep the western swordferns and snowberry, both of which have historical food, medicine, and personal care uses.It was a great success and a lot of fun. The folks at Cascade Raptor Center let us spend some quality time with the raptors they are caring for and we all posed with Atticus, the Bald Eagle.

We are all so happy that we were able to share this experience with each other. We are looking forward our next community volunteering event. Stay tuned!
